Now, the time

Do you know your birth time?

This determines your Rising sign, Midheaven and houses. We will never guess them if the time is unknown.

Use the closest time you know.
That’s okay. Your planets and many aspects can still be calculated. Rising sign, Midheaven and houses will be left unassigned.

How this chart is calculatedReal astronomy first. Interpretation second.

Planet positions are calculated deterministically from your date and universal birth time. Your selected birthplace supplies latitude, longitude and its historical time-zone offset. When a birth time is available, the Ascendant, Midheaven and Whole Sign houses are calculated from those coordinates. Interpretations only use placements and aspects that appear in your result.

Frequently Asked Questions

A birth chart, or natal chart, maps the Sun, Moon and planets at your moment and place of birth. It also includes the Ascendant, Midheaven, twelve houses and relationships between planets called aspects when an accurate birth time is available.

Start with your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. Then read the personal planets Mercury, Venus and Mars, notice where planets fall by house, and look at your tightest major aspects. The free result above gives every one of these pieces in that order.

Your Rising sign, or Ascendant, is the zodiac degree rising on the eastern horizon at birth. It changes quickly, so it requires both a birth time and birthplace. This calculator leaves it blank when the birth time is unknown rather than guessing.

Your Sun sign describes conscious identity and direction. Your Moon sign describes instinctive reactions, emotional needs and what helps you feel safe. Their aspect to one another shows how easily those two parts of you cooperate.

You can still calculate your Sun and most planetary signs plus many aspects. If the Moon changes signs that day, the result names both possibilities. Rising sign, Midheaven and houses are not shown because they cannot be calculated honestly without a time.

This calculator uses Whole Sign houses: the sign containing the Ascendant becomes the entire first house, and each following sign becomes the next house. It is a traditional, widely used house system and is also especially clear for beginners.

The free analysis includes your Sun and Moon signs, Rising sign when birth time is known, exact planetary positions, Whole Sign houses, major aspects, and element and modality balance. It also explains the strongest pattern connecting those placements.

Yes. You can still receive Sun and planetary signs plus many aspects. If the Moon changes signs during that date, the result shows both possibilities. Rising sign, Midheaven, and houses are omitted because those depend on an accurate time.

Planet positions are calculated from the supplied date, time, birthplace, and historical time-zone offset using Astronomy Engine. Astrology interpretations are reflective rather than scientifically predictive, so use them for self-exploration instead of fixed conclusions.

Free Birth Chart Analysis: Your Natal Chart Guide

A free birth chart analysis should do more than return one zodiac sign. It should show which placements were calculated from your birth data, explain how those placements interact, and clearly separate time-sensitive results from details that remain reliable without an exact birth time. This calculator creates a Western Tropical, geocentric natal chart using your date, time, birthplace, and historical time-zone offset. The free result includes exact planetary degrees, major aspects, Whole Sign houses when a birth time is available, and a plain-language synthesis of the strongest pattern in the chart.

What Your Free Birth Chart Analysis Includes

Your chart begins with the Sun and Moon, then adds Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and the mean lunar node. If you provide a usable birth time and place, it also calculates the Ascendant, Midheaven, and all twelve Whole Sign houses. The result then identifies major conjunctions, oppositions, trines, squares, and sextiles, plus the balance of Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable placements.

These pieces answer different questions. Signs describe how a planet tends to express itself. Houses describe where that expression is most noticeable in life. Aspects describe how two planetary functions cooperate, challenge, or modify one another. Reading all three layers together produces a more useful analysis than interpreting isolated placements.

How to Read Your Natal Chart in Five Steps

  1. Begin with the Sun, Moon, and Rising sign. The Sun is linked with conscious identity and direction; the Moon with instinctive needs and emotional regulation; the Rising sign with your approach to new situations and the structure of the houses.
  2. Read Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Mercury describes information and communication style, Venus relates to attraction and values, and Mars reflects drive, assertion, and the way energy is directed.
  3. Notice the houses. A planet's house shows the life area where its themes may be most visible. For example, Venus in the 7th house emphasizes partnership themes, while Saturn in the 10th may bring sustained effort, limits, or responsibility into career and public life.
  4. Prioritize the tightest major aspects. An aspect with a small orb is usually more central than a loose one. Conjunctions blend functions, trines and sextiles can describe easier cooperation, and squares or oppositions often point to tensions that require conscious integration.
  5. Look for repetition. A dominant element, several planets in one house, or the same topic appearing through multiple aspects is usually more informative than a single placement. The strongest repeated theme is a practical starting point for reflection.

The Big Three: Sun, Moon, and Rising

Your Sun sign describes the qualities you consciously develop and the direction in which you tend to build identity. Your Moon sign is associated with automatic reactions, private needs, and what helps you regain emotional equilibrium. Your Rising sign, or Ascendant, is the zodiac degree rising in the east at the recorded birth moment. It changes quickly and sets the first house, so the Rising sign cannot be calculated responsibly without a birth time and birthplace.

The Big Three may support one another or pull in different directions. A Fire Sun with a Water Moon, for example, can combine visible decisiveness with a more cautious or sensitive inner response. The aspect between the Sun and Moon helps clarify whether conscious aims and emotional needs tend to cooperate easily or require negotiation.

Planets, Houses, and Aspects

Each planet represents a different function in the astrological model. Mercury concerns perception and communication; Venus concerns values, relating, and attraction; Mars concerns action and conflict; Jupiter concerns expansion and meaning; and Saturn concerns structure, limits, and commitment. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto move slowly, so their sign placements are shared by many people in the same generation. Their houses and aspects make them more personal.

The twelve houses organize the chart into life areas, from identity and resources to communication, home, creativity, work, partnership, shared obligations, belief, career, community, and the private inner world. This calculator uses Whole Sign houses: the entire sign containing the Ascendant becomes the first house, and each following sign becomes the next house.

Why Birth Time and Birthplace Matter

Birthplace supplies latitude, longitude, and the historical time-zone offset needed to convert local civil time into universal time. Birth time determines the horizon, Ascendant, Midheaven, and houses. If you do not know the time, the calculator still returns the placements that can be computed honestly. It does not invent a Rising sign or houses, and it flags the Moon when it may have changed signs during the date.

How Accurate Is an Online Birth Chart Analysis?

The astronomical layer is deterministic: the same valid birth details produce the same planetary positions. Deckaura calculates those positions in the browser with Astronomy Engine, then applies the selected location and historical time zone. Accuracy still depends on the information entered. A rounded or uncertain birth time can change the Ascendant degree and house layout, while an incorrect city can apply the wrong coordinates or time-zone history.

The interpretive layer is different. Astrology is a symbolic tradition and is not scientifically established as a predictive method. Treat a free natal chart analysis as a structured prompt for self-observation, not proof of personality, fate, health, compatibility, or future events. Compare an interpretation with your lived experience and keep what is genuinely useful.

What a Birth Chart Can—and Cannot—Tell You

A chart can help you organize recurring themes, contrasting needs, preferred ways of acting, and areas that may deserve attention. It cannot confirm another person's thoughts, guarantee an outcome, diagnose a condition, or replace medical, legal, financial, or mental-health guidance. The most grounded use is to turn a repeated chart theme into a question you can test through choices and behavior.

Continue Exploring Your Chart

After your analysis, explore the Sun, Moon, and Rising calculator for a focused Big Three explanation, compare two charts with the synastry calculator, or examine current cycles with the transit chart calculator. You can also find your tarot birth card as a separate reflective system. These tools answer different questions, so keep the natal chart as the foundation rather than blending every result into one fixed conclusion.
