Reading two and three card combinations
Two tarot cards rarely mean the sum of their separate definitions. The first sets the ground; the second amplifies, resists or redirects it. The Sun followed by The Tower therefore reads differently from The Tower followed by The Sun.
A third card answers the question two cards leave open: where does this go? It carries forward weight in the sequence. All 78 cards — Major and Minor Arcana, upright and reversed — are included.
